Today, we continued reading Fences and for the first time, I had a part to play. I was Bono, and it was fun reading but I missed a couple words in the beginning, which I noticed was because I'm living on 6.5 hours of sleep today.
I learned more about Bono and Troy's relationship through playing my part, but the scene really grabbed my attention and impact me when Troy reflected on his memories of his father, from when Troy was only 14 years old. This part really caught me by surprise. (no need to go into details there) I plan to use this knowledge of this father experience to be 1. grateful for my family upbringing, and 2. keep in mind other families, or kids who have gone through similar situations. What a horrible world we live in.
What I liked about today's lesson was when Mr. Rease said he liked my blog posts. I'm assuming this is because I follow the format as closely as possible. I put the basic elements of the format on a google doc, which I can refer to back and forth while drafting my posts to keep them consistent. Because I've been touch-typing since 7th grade, I can type at an average of 80-ish words per minute, so when I'm on a keyboard I can kind of (not quite, but somewhat) let my thoughts just flow onto the document I'm typing on, at a similar speed that I am developing them in my head. The skill has saved me from barely-missing assignments countless times. Taking notes is also a lot faster because I can focus on the words I'm typing as I type them, instead of looking up and down at the board and my keyboard.
Wow, this is a long one...
Today, I am feeling encouraged. I have got 5 more signatures for the Bible club, and by calling on the Lord to break down social anxiety that the enemy gives me, the Lord faithfully overcomes any insecurity in me of asking for people's interest. I've asked everyone I have intended, and some have even asked to sign before I could ask them. I also already have a couple guaranteed signatures that aren't on there yet, so I only need somewhere between 6-8 more signatures to be sure that I've secured the required 15. Thank you Lord for this opportunity to grow in you personally and overcome speaking of your Word to my classmates! This has been quite a full day, but applying the Lord to my every situation in school keeps each situation and assignment effortless and enjoyable.
