Today, we read The Myth of The Latin Woman and listened to a Ted talk about being a Hispanic/Latinx means in the United States. We wrote down interesting things, misconceptions, and questions pertaining to the text and video. We also looked at a new extra credit assignment. I learned a lot about Latinx and Hispanic people/cultures. What impacted me was how many misconceptions there are about these groups that aren't even easy to realize without seeing examples of them being revealed. With this knowledge, I plan to better identify and keep myself from generalizing people of Latinx background. What I liked about the lesson was that this information is very valuable for communicating properly in our social lives. This lesson was mostly writing in pencil, and I really prefer typing, but this hasn't ever kept me from doing my work as well as I could. Today, I am feeling great.
