Today, we read The Myth of The Latin Woman and listened to a Ted talk about being a Hispanic/Latinx means in the United States. We wrote down interesting things, misconceptions, and questions pertaining to the text and video. We also looked at a new extra credit assignment.
I learned a lot about Latinx and Hispanic people/cultures. What impacted me was how many misconceptions there are about these groups that aren't even easy to realize without seeing examples of them being revealed. With this knowledge, I plan to better identify and keep myself from generalizing people of Latinx background.
What I liked about the lesson was that this information is very valuable for communicating properly in our social lives. This lesson was mostly writing in pencil, and I really prefer typing, but this hasn't ever kept me from doing my work as well as I could.
Today, I am feeling great. I have been quite productive already and I can feel a difference from going to sleep an hour earlier last night. I also led someone to call on the Lord and experience a living touch with Him while walking up to school and shared some of my favorite verses about our human spirit with him. The spirit is our "spiritual organ" we were created with for the sole purpose of contacting and receiving God Himself through Jesus Christ. Call OH LORD JESUS!
