I was absent on Wednesday, November 29.

Today, we received a sheet with questions about what we read and discussed yesterday: "I Want a Wife" by Judy Brady. I learned some new ways to view and interpret the reading. It impacted me by causing me to freshly consider what keeps a marriage together and what separates people in marriage. I plan to use this knowledge to help me later on in my life. I liked that the lesson led me to think more about this topic in new ways. I didn't like how much writing I had to do to answer each question, but that's just because I don't like writing a lot down with pencil and paper. Typing is way easier and faster, and doesn't block or stall my thoughts as much.  Today I am feeling great. I've been quite productive and I am going to finish fixing Mrs. Arzabe's drawer in my engineering class next period while listening to the history of the Lord's recovery in Plainview, Texas. I did this while fixing the same drawer (it broke again recently) at the beginning o...

Today, we looked at what cultural feminism is and read a passage about a woman "wanting a wife" for the purpose of exposing all of the burdens that husbands assume their wives will take care of. I learned useful information about different types of feminism. It impacted me because my idea of feminism revolved around what I now know is radical feminism. Radical feminists have the ideology that only a major change in all of society can change the roles of men and women. Cultural feminism makes a lot more sense to me and seems to have a much more easily achievable end goal to it in society. I am glad that I am more informed on this topic and I plan to use it to have a better concept of feminism as a whole moving forward. I liked the discussion after reading the paper exposing the unequal demands in marriage. It was interesting to see how others interpreted the reading. There wasn't really anything to dislike about the lesson. Today I am feeling good. I am very tired but I...

Nov 15

On Wednesday, November 15 we filled out the worksheet that we received the day before while watching the film about the different children's' journeys to school. I learned just how difficult it is and how long it takes for so many children all over the world to get to school each day. It really impacted me by making me feel privileged and grateful for my situation here in America, especially because I have my own car and only walk about 1/3 of a mile to get to school after parking. I liked learning about these children's journeys to school and how it made me very clearly aware of the advantaged situation I have here in the States. There wasn't really anything to dislike about today's lesson.  Today is going well, I really enjoyed the Lord's Table meeting with the church. (our communion meeting) I love the huge feast we always have after it ends, but feasting on the Lord is much more filling.

Nov 14

On Tuesday, November 14 we filled out the first page of a paper about our own journey to school every day. We were told that the next day we were going to watch a movie about different children across the world's journeys to school. We hadn't watched the movie yet, so I learned more about my own journey to school and some interesting facts about other countries that we also had to fill out on the front page of the sheet. I was impacted by some of the facts about the four countries as well as by realizing how long it takes me to get to school even though I live so close. What I liked about the lesson was writing about my own daily journey to school. There wasn't much to dislike. My day is going well. I just had a dive practice that I did pretty good in.

On Monday, November 13 we had a substitute and did a college-based vocabulary exercise.  I learned a lot of different words that start with the letter "f." What impacted me was that it seems there are so many synonymous words for the same meaning of something, as well as using the Latin roots to figure out why words are structured in the way that they are in English. I liked this lesson because it expanded my vocabulary, but it seemed like there was so much writing to do with the fill-in-the-blank part. Maybe I just didn't have to re-write the whole sentences... Today I am feeling great. I regret not doing these posts earlier because it is hard for me to remember everything that we did in class during this week.

Nov 10

I was absent on Friday, November 10. I don't have Mr. Rease's class on Thursday the 9th.

On Wednesday, I got to class in the middle of a video about the effects on people of receiving only one source of information about things, and how the government can do this. We had a discussion while answering questions about it and then some shared their responses to some of the questions. I learned that a country or government has every right to absolutely restrict information from its residents as well as give them any information about the countries outside of theirs, whether it is true or not. This impacted me because I knew this was possible, but I hadn't seen the extent of it that was shown in the video and in the examples that Mr. Rease mentioned. With this knowledge, I am much more thankful to be in a country where we aren't super restricted when it comes to matters of what we can know and where we can go.  I liked the topic of the lesson. it was very interesting and easy to stay engaged with. even though I didn't share any answers, I was very easily paying atten...
